Libya is mainly a Sunni Muslim dominated country, about 97% of the population are Sunni. Along with the Sunni's there is also a population of approximately 40,000 Roman Catholics that are served by 2 bishops within the country, one in the countries capital Tripoli that serves the Italian community and the other in Benghazi that serves the Maltese community. There are also other smaller denominations of religion throughout the country such as Optic Orthodox Christianity which is the Christian church of Egypt, Anglican which slaves of Tripoli attend and follow avidly, although there are not a lot of people in the smaller denominations they are still viewed as a religion and they are respected the same as members of the mor populated religions.
